Spooky Cemetery

This week our group met in Langley to sketch in the Langley Woodsmans Cemetery. This cemetery is only one of two in the State of Washington that offers a "Green" burial.  No metal coffins!  The old section has always attracted my attention when driving or walking by.  It has what would have been very large Douglas firs that must have been topped about 50 or more years ago.  The trees decided to live despite this mutilation and have sent up suckers that are now quite large, giving the trees an eery feeling like fingers reaching for the sky.

My sketch is from the outside looking in past the angel.  I hope you get the feeling of how spooky it could be on a foggy night.
