Star Store booth

Beautiful light this night after a Gallery meeting, so I set up near Kalakala and sketched the Star Store booth.  The shadows grew long in the 45 minutes I was there.  The night was beautiful, the town a touch lively with people running into the store for last minute food or parking for Prima.
This is for you John Alsip, enjoy!

Fooling around with sunflowers brought me two potential new images for cards.  I love to paint flowers!

Sunny Smiles from over 100 miles

I couldn't resist purchasing some sunflowers the other day.  They bring the warmth of sunny locations with their bright color.  It was fun to set them up and sketch from two different viewpoints.  The colors may also be interesting, because these were sketched at night in the living room with incandescent lighting.  Let me know which one you like best.

The pumpkins are here, the pumpkins are here!

Life is good!  The rain has returned, soup is cooking in the crockpot and friends are sketching a beautiful fall still life.  The sound of the rain perking on the rooftop and the fire in the fireplace, wine and friends all sitting around the table sketching the most beautiful pumpkins from Trader Joes.
Not just beautiful, but superb pumpkins, large, gorgeous colors, great stems, fun to draw and paint!!!
I just realized I am waxing poetic about SQUASH!.  They really are squash, but who cares, pumpkins are more appealing.
It was a yummy cozy day.  Here is the result!
Judi's crow from Casey's crafts and the beautiful pumpkins (okay squash)

The whole shebang!

Oh for a Trader Joe on Whidbey.  Look at these flowers, Van Gogh would be envious!

Sunny flowers

There is nothing like yellow to brighten a gloomy rainy day.  We have been having quite a few watery days this week, all for the good of the garden, but seeing the yellow and red bushes in the garden and painting summer adds quite a bit of cheer to the gray.

This week I'm taking a class with Jeff Legg at Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio.  Jeff is a beautiful painter, I particularly admire his still life paintings.  He makes painting fine details and the set up of still life look so easy, and the results are truly beautiful.  I'll talk more about the results of this class in the future and show a finished painting of my own.  Please check out Jeffs' website and WIFAS for some wonderful art teachers.

New website is not up yet!

Oh dear, I spent a lot of time creating my website with Weebly and just found out that it may take a while for Google to publish.  I have been preparing new paintings for our Gallery rotation and the Studio Tour that is happening this weekend, October 6 and 7 from 10-5pm.  Here are a few of the new paintings.
