YES! I finished

Here we go, I diverged a bit, combining two challenges in one, but managed to finish a day late and a pound short.  That is a British pound, I would be so happy if it were a pound of weight, but that is another matter.  Every Day in May, you are done!  Next year I will try to start on time.

This is not a truck but it will do.  It was blocking 2nd street yesterday!

This took some thought and consultation for nasty words.

Twofer combining a pound note and something I got on a trip!  Creative thinking, thats me!

Slowly, Slowly getting there

Well the deadline was yesterday, but I am still trying to finish the challenge.  Maybe today will be the day.  Only five more to go!  Here are Every Day in May sketchbook challenge, numbers, 22-26.
#26 A bench, oh well I sketched
while sitting on a bench!

Radio/ipod dock remote, very small

Yang the cuddle cat!

Play on words "sketch a fan" hmm I found
these Seahawks fans on the internet.

Im not sure I want a gardener as much as a weeder, but this was simpler to draw!

Only ten days behind 8-(

I'm playing catch up.  Today, I managed five EDIM sketches.  I will never make all ten within the next two days, but will trickle the rest into some posts, till I finish.  Completion complex, thats me!
This should be a rope, I like a ribbon better, something to polish and a fork or 5!
This is part of something close up; a boring keyboard!  I added fingernail polish(watercolor paint) to jazz it up.

My husband bought this wonderful soap and paid a bunch of pretty pennies!

Five more sketches

Still trying to catch up.  I've been too busy the past few days to stay on top of the sketch challenge, but while recuperating from a lot of dental work today, I managed to get to day 16.  Only 4 days behind and working on it.
The fun part of these particular sketches; hiding the cookies from my husband so I could sketch them.  Sketching the succulents in the seashell in our sunny garden.  The bad part; overworking the juice glass.  I accept this minor defeat considering it a lesson learned!

EDIM 7, 8, 9 sketch challenge

7. One boring white microwave, coming up!  Two useless cubbies above, one social commentary on the uselessness of said cubbies.  Okay, they hold bread baking pans, but that is it!
8.  I did like the Mirror image.  I was wondering what I would do for a mirror image and looked down at my feet on the foot stool and the lightbulb went off.
9.  I cheated and did the garden shadows on the same day as the umbrella!  The light cooperated and made that challenge a no brainer!  This really is fun and opens your thoughts to seeing things to sketch in a new light.

EDIM 5 & 6; A Hobby and Relic

My hobby, my art, is painting, drawing. This is a new watercolor brush that retains its shape, has nice bounce and holds a reasonable amount of paint.  A winner!

Besides myself, the only relic I have is a crystal vase that Mom gave me a few years ago.  TSA loved it when I put it in my luggage.  Can you imagine screening a ball shape of glass and thinking bomb?
I'm not ready to paint crystal, however, I'd like to think something I created might become a "relic".

While living in Yokohama, I spent many hours learning how to sew this Geisha's clothing and put it together.  The head and hands are porcelain, not that cheap silk that they sell these days.  Her hair is an actual wig.  She has been hidden in a tea chest for most of the past 50 years and I decided she needed her place in our home, no matter what happens to her and her companion.  I made two, the other is a normal housewife in a kimono!

EDIM Umbrella and Thumb

This was an interesting addition to the 30 day challenge, drawing an umbrella.  I had to wait till morning to raise the garden umbrella slightly to get some different undulations.  A straight out tight umbrella is hard to draw; all those ribs drive me crazy.  Interestingly, while sitting inside looking outside I got to enjoy the changing light and beautiful morning.  I kept telling myself, stop, its just about an umbrella, but everything else kept creeping into the picture.  Then, as you will see in a couple of days, I still couldn't stop and sketched most of the same scene for the shadows!

Thumbs are very funny looking on their own; mine looks very masculine as I can't keep my nails very long and refuse to have false nails applied.  The inside angle and soft pad add qualities that you don't normally concentrate on when you look at your thumb.  Take a look at yours.

Every Day in May 30 day challenge

Judi Nyerges has inspired me to catch up to making a sketch a day with a group called Every Day in May.  It's a 30 day sketchbook challenge. Last night I sketched four, sketches!

I also spent the afternoon having fun and making the album that will hold these sketches.
Here is the cover I am using.  It's a fun abstract painted on 140lb watercolor paper.  It measures about 5.75 x 7.75, and was applied to mat or tag board.  The inside cover is bright orange!  The next step is to protect the cover with a matte medium.
More tomorrow......

Day two:  Draw a knife or a blade
